NAIROBI, KENYA: The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is seeking trainees for its Graduate Intake Programme.

In an advertisement placed in the dailies on Monday, the revenue body stated the selected individuals would undergo in-house training prior to permanent employment.

KRA is going into one of the most challenging years in its history as the country moves into a devolved system of government.

County governments draw a new formula for revenue collection and sharing that will be tested for the first time this financial year.

Last year KRA stated that it had missed its revenue collection target by Sh45 billion in the first quarter of the 2012/2013 financial year.

In addition to this, KRA announced it will begin collecting rental income fromlarge and small property owners.

This is expected to greatly increase the workload for the revenue authority, while providing employment opportunities for new personnel.

First degree

Prospective applicants are expected to be Kenyan citizens not over the age of 27.

They are further expected to hold a first degree with a minimum Upper Second Class honours from a reputable university with specialisation in accounting, business administration, marketing, finance, economics, law, mathematics, statistics, ICT or science related fields.

Application containing copies of national identification card, curriculum vitae, academic and professional certificates are to be sent in by January 11.

Applications can be made either through hard copy and addressed to the senior deputy commissioner at the human resource department or in soft copy through erecruit@kra.go.ke.
