Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) employees strike entered the second day as Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) tried to arbitrate.
Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Saturday said senior union officials would meet KAA management to resolve the stalemate.
Atwoli urged KAA Managing Director Stephen Gichuki to convene a meeting with Aviation and Allied Workers Union officials urgently.
The Cotu boss added that he had requested Internal Security PS Francis Kimemia to ask the KAA management to give dialogue a chance.
Speaking at his rural home at Khwisero in Kakamega County, Atwoli said the strike is legal and accused the management of refusing to negotiate with union officials.
Better pay
"The management has been a stumbling block," Atwoli said. "The strike is raising security concerns at our airports and airstrips. Solutions to the stalemate must be found as soon as possible."
The striking staff staged a sit in for hours at Cotu offices seeking audience with Atwoli.
"We want Cotu to come to our aid and help us push for a better pay," said a worker who asked not to be named for fear of being reprimanded.
The airport staff went on strike on Friday to demand better pay.
