Hafidh Shihabuddin beat a team of 100 golfers on a count back score of 36 stableford points to lift the 2011 Madaraka Day trophy at the seaside Mombasa Golf club last Wednesday.
Playing off handicap 21, Shihabuddin who is also the club chairman sunk a birdie at par fifth hole 14, leveled five holes, scratched hole 5 and hole 15 with a mixed pot of bogeys in the rest of the holes to register his name in the leaders board.
"I am ending my drought now since 2007 when I last won a major event. Today the fantastic sea course just gave me a chance to play best," Shihabuddin said.
Handicap 5, Allan Dainty settled for the runners up spot on the same points while handicap 16, Yatick Kengugo who had 35 points and handicap 22 Ken Mwangi who scored 34 points were placed third and fourth.
Veteran Coast lady golfer Diana Munyao playing off handicap 8, was the lady winner on a countback score of 26 after playing a 10-16 points in both nines.
Schoolboy John Mburu playing off handicap 8, was the best junior on a score of 33 points, a point ahead off handicap 18 Ali Virji who took the runners up slot.
