Dana Milbank is a Washington Post columnist and together with New York Times columnist Ross Douthat think that loud, foul-tongued former Alaska Governor and US veep wannabe Sarah Palin is overrated and getting much-too-much Press coverage. Palaver couldn’t agree more. She and her anti-Obama Tea Partyists are overrated and undeserving of the glare of the media spotlight.
Milbank is declaring February a Palin-free month and asking the rest of us to join in the news blackout. Now why would Palaver not join such a noble cause being termed "the Palin Pledge"? And to quote Plutarch: "In words are seen the state of mind and character and disposition of the speaker." Palaver couldn’t have put it better. See you in March, Sarah.
And still on US President Barack Obama, observers have noticed that he suffers from that very Kenyan leaders’ morbid fear of ageing. Back-to-back photographs of Obama when he hosted Chinese President Hu Jintao, point to the unmistakable fact that he had his hair dyed. Gone are the inevitable gray hairs that swept through his head as the stresses of the Oval Office manifested themselves.
Pope Benedict XVI must be grinning from ear to ear, following reports that seven Anglican priests and 300 members of six congregations will join the ‘Ordinariate’. The defectors are disaffected Anglicans opposed to women bishops, gay clergy and same-sex blessings. The ‘Ordinariate’ is a specially created section to ‘house’ those decamping to the Roman Catholic Church. It will also welcome married priests.
Heard of the Ukrainian crocodile that has lost its appetite after literally making a bad call? According to an AFP news posting, the Nile crocodile named Gena, reportedly swallowed a mobile phone that fell into his enclosure when a visitor tried to take a picture of him last month. Even as the phone continues to ring in his belly, Gena has gone without food for a whole month.

Councillors from Kisii seem to be in a mighty big hurry. Hardly had the voting ink dried on the ballot papers that saw Henry Obwocha elected Ford People chairman, 50 councillors asked him to run for President next year. He joins a long list of leaders being egged on for candidacy to become the next tenant of the House on the Hill.
