The Kenya Lionesses will remain in WXV3 after a 21-5 win over Colombia in their crunch tie at The Sevens in Dubai on Friday 27 October 2023.

The Lionesess were decisive on attack and resolute in defense, scoring three tries, a drop goal and penalty to win the match.

Sharon Auma was quick off the mark, touching down in the 6th minute for a 5-0 lead before the game’s MVP, Ann Goretti Ochieng drilled home a 21rd minute drop goal for an 8-0 score.

Rampaging prop forward Rose Otieno then barged over the whitewash two minutes later to make it 13-0 before Juliana Soto scored for Colombia, her 34th minute try bringing the score to 13-5.

Auma was not done, landing her brace two minutes from halftime to give the Lionesses an 18-5 lead at the break.

Colombia came back with intent, looking to breach the Lionesses try line but had to reckon with resolute defending.

The Lionesses clawed their way back into the match, warding off the attacking threat of the Colombians with astute territorial kicking from Ochieng who scored a 75th minute penalty goal to confirm the full time result.
