"They had not paid me"- Waiter admits to stealing Sh24,000 from restaurant

A waiter admitted to stealing Sh24,000 from the restaurant he was working in.

Kevin Kisekwa appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Njagi and admitted to the charge which he committed in February.

The charge sheet read that on February 26, at Sizzling Grill restaurant along Moi Avenue, Nairobi he stole Sh24,000.

In mitigation, he asked the court to pardon him because after working for the restaurant for eight years, the restaurant owed him part of his salary, which they delayed paying him.

“Your honour they were delaying in paying me my salary balance and that’s why I decided to pay myself,” said Kisekwa.

He also said that he had a wife and a six -month child that he had to take care of.

Njagi ordered that a probation report be made and be presented on Thursday next week before he is sentenced.
