Calvin Okoth, popularly known as Gaucho, has critised ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, daring him to leave the party following comments he made during a TV interview.
In the interview, Sifuna said that ODM has lost its popularity after joining the Kenya Kwanza government.
Gaucho, a self-professed ghetto president, claimed that Sifuna was not speaking as ODM’s Secretary General but as an ordinary citizen. He challenged him to quit the party if he believes it has lost its fame because its leader, Raila Odinga, is working with the government.
“Na wewe ukiona kwamba party ya ODM imepotesa umaarufu kwa sababu ya kuungana na William Ruto, tafadhali toka huende utafute party yenye iko na umaarufu, uende utafute nayo kiti huko 2027 my friend,” Gaucho said.
Gaucho warned Sifuna that ODM only takes instructions from Raila Odinga and not from anyone else. He dismissed Sifuna’s comments and said that plans are underway for protests in the streets, led by the Luo community.

He further warned Sifuna that he has no political ground without Raila.
“Wewe mwenyewe huna ground. Unajua watu hawakujui? Kama si Raila Odinga hakuna mahali unaenda. Usijidanganye kama kuna watu uko nayo, mtu ako na watu ni Raila Odinga. Raila Odinga ndio ODM na ODM ni Raila.”
Gaucho insisted that party members should only take directions from Raila and not from any other leader.
The video sparked mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans defended Sifuna and argued that he can still succeed politically without Raila or ODM.
Paliz Muziq said,“Raila akijishikilia Sifuna, ODM itakufa kama KANU. I believe Sifuna can win without Raila na ODM.”
Kanoute Cyro added,“Raila iliisha kitambo... Sifuna ako sawa. Raila atawamaliza nyinyi.”
Chief General wrote,“Sifuna aende huko mbali na hatumtakii ODM... kuma ya mamako na wacha kutuharibia party yetu.”
Another user added, “ODM will remain a Luo party by 2027.”
The heated exchange comes just days after Sifuna publicly stated that ODM has lost its prominence and is in confusion after its leader, Raila Odinga, and some members joined the government under the broad-based government initiative.
