Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has declared that he will attend Bahati and Diana Marua’s much-anticipated wedding but will not pay the Sh1 million invitation fee announced by the celebrity couple.

Mosiria says he will attend in his official capacity to check whether the event complies with environmental regulations, rather than as a paying guest.

In a video posted on his social media platforms, Mosiria assured the couple of his attendance while questioning the decision to charge guests such a hefty amount.

“Bahati, mimi sitalipa milioni moja. Nitakuja kuangalia ya kwamba you are environmentally compliant,” he said, emphasising that he would be checking to ensure the wedding does not violate county laws.

He also questioned what made the couple’s wedding so special that guests would be expected to pay with Sh1 million to attend.

“Kwani hii harusi, Bahati ni nini hiyo iko so special yenye lazima alipie millioni moja? Ama wakati unaoa Diana mwenye atalipa millioni moja atakuwa na shares?” Mosiria posed.

In what he described as advice to the singer, the county official argued that a wedding should not be treated as a business venture.

He added that the Bible does not prescribe an admission fee for people attending a marriage ceremony.

Mosiria further suggested that the couple could have held their wedding in an open venue such as Nyayo National Stadium, allowing more fans to join in celebrating their union instead of making the occasion accessible only to a select few.

He maintained that fans who wish to support the couple should be allowed to do so voluntarily, contributing whatever amount they can afford rather than being subjected to a fixed fee.

“Wakenya hawana pesa. Wakenya wanafinywa na uchumi na pia Baha anawafinya huku kando na harusi,” he concluded.

His remarks have added another twist to the growing conversation surrounding the couple’s wedding, particularly the unusual price tag attached to attending the ceremony.

Bahati and Diana announced that their wedding, scheduled for November 6, 2026, would accommodate only 100 guests, with each invitation reportedly costing Sh1 million.

The announcement sparked reactions among Kenyans, with some questioning the steep price while others joked that they would rather follow the ceremony online than spend such a fortune to attend.

The couple’s wedding marks another milestone in their relationship, having celebrated 10 years together.

Bahati has previously spoken about his desire to give Diana a lavish wedding, with discussions surrounding an expensive wedding gown and an extravagant celebration.
