Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter, Patience Kokundeka Museveni Rwabwogo, has been consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop, marking 20 years in Christian ministry.
Patience, the founder and lead pastor of Covenant Nations Church, was consecrated on Sunday, August 23, during celebrations marking the church’s 20th anniversary at Covenant Hill in Maya, Wakiso District.
The ceremony was attended by President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, alongside senior government officials, religious leaders, family members and hundreds of worshippers.
President Museveni celebrated his daughter’s achievement while reflecting on his family’s Christian journey.

“So, I thank God for having a whole bishop now,” Museveni said, noting that despite his family’s decades of involvement in the Church, it had never previously produced even a catechist.
Museveni said he had studied the Bible systematically for 12 years from 1953, but acknowledged that his daughter’s understanding of Scripture had impressed him.
“So, I said, this young person has really read the Bible much more than myself, I surrendered,” he said.
He congratulated Patience and urged her to view her new position as a spiritual responsibility rather than simply a title.
The President also spoke about his wife’s recent health setback, thanking God for her recovery and acknowledging the medical personnel who cared for her.
“I thank God for Maama’s recovery and salute the medical staff, as well as our children, Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana, who stood with her throughout,” he stated in a post shared on Sunday.
First Lady Janet Museveni also celebrated her daughter’s elevation, describing it as a moment of joy and thanksgiving for the family.
“Today, we celebrate the consecration of our daughter, Patience, to the office of a Bishop,” Janet said.
She added, “We are overwhelmed with joy and thanksgiving at the great honour You have bestowed over us in choosing one of our children to serve You in this capacity.”
To mark her new role, Museveni revealed that he and Janet had gifted their daughter 50 cows.
