The mother of former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno has appealed for a proper shelter to be built over her son’s grave, saying she does not want him to be rained on, during the late MP's gravesite visit.
Rigathi Gachagua has promised to pay for the construction and assist Ng’eno’s brother, who is receiving treatment in hospital.
Mary Temas made the emotional request when the former Deputy President visited the home of the late MP at Mogindo village on Friday, August 21.
Speaking at her son’s graveside, she said that she had earlier asked the government to help build a structure over the grave, but her request was not met.
She then turned to Gachagua, asking him to ensure that Ng’eno gets a decent resting place.
Gachagua said he would personally finance the project after the family gets a suitable design for the mausoleum-like structure.

“I have heard your request,” Gachagua said. “If we can find someone who will design the way our mother wants, I will personally take the responsibility of constructing the grave.”
He said Ng’eno was his friend and promised to honour the family’s wishes. Gachagua also said he would support the late MP’s only surviving brother, who is currently admitted to hospital.
Ng’eno, who served Emurua Dikirr for three consecutive terms, died on February 28, 2026, after a helicopter crashed at Chepkiep village in Mosop, Nandi County. Five other people, including pilot George Were, died in the accident.
The crash happened after the helicopter reportedly encountered poor weather conditions. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has yet to publicly release the final findings of its investigation into the tragedy.
In recent weeks, Gachagua has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Ng’eno’s death, including claims about possible fuel contamination.
However, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen rejected the allegations, saying preliminary findings linked the crash to bad weather.
For Ng’eno’s family, the latest pledge offers hope that their request for a dignified final resting place for the former MP will finally be fulfilled.
