1,225 people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 8,887 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

New data from the Health Ministry shows that Kenya’s positivity rate is now 13.8 per cent.

So far, there are 219,938 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 2,247,959 tests conducted since the onset of the disease last year in March.

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, some 1933 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country, while one hundred and thirty-one patients are in the Intensive Care Unit.

Fifty-five patients are on ventilatory support and sixty-nine on supplementary oxygen.

Another 1,318 patients have recovered from the disease, 1,232of those were discharged from the Home-based Isolation and Care program while eighty-six were discharged from various health facilities countrywide.

The total recoveries now stand at 202,372.

Some seventeen patients have also succumbed to the disease, all being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates from April-August 2021.

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll is 4,319.

On vaccination, only 2.7 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated, and at least 2,008,548 vaccines administered so far.
