The Government has approved the construction of hostels at the Kisii Medical Training College to accommodate over 2,000 students.

Speaking last week, the Kenya Medical Training College Board (KMTC) Chairman Philip Kaloki said the Government was treating the move as urgent and will soon begin the construction.

"We have identified land for the construction and through a public private initiative, we will soon be signing an MoU and subsequently laying a foundation stone for the construction.

It is sad to note that not even a third of our students receive accommodation from our institutions," said Prof Kaloki.

He said Sh3 billion has been set aside for the improvement of infrastructure in all the 42 campuses in the country.
