Elgey-Marakwet County Governor Alex Tolgos in a press conference in Eldoret.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has asked Parliament to pass a bill that requires all Kenyans to be enrolled into a medical cover scheme to cushion them from high health expenses.

Mr Tolgos (above) raised concern over high cost of medical expenses which would have been easily covered if the individuals had been enrolled in a medical scheme.

He said he regretted some have been forced to sell land to enable them foot hospital bills.

Tolgos said it will only be through legislation that all Kenyans will be assured of getting access to quality health services.

"I am challenging both the Senate and the National Assembly to come up with a law which will make it mandatory for all Kenyans to enlist themselves into a medical insurance cover to access health services at any facility," said the governor.
