Disney star Carla Jeffery, best known for playing bubbly cheerleader Bree in the hit Zombies film franchise, has died aged 33.
Jeffery died on September 1, 2026, her longtime talent management company, Alexanders Talent Management, confirmed in a statement shared on her official social media accounts.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery,” the company said.
“As Bree in Disney’s hit Zombies franchise, Carla shared her joy, humour and bright spirit with audiences around the world. Carla was more than a client; she was family.”
The company did not disclose the cause of death and asked the public to respect the privacy of Jeffery’s family and loved ones.
Born in Houston, Texas, on July 10, 1993, alongside her twin brother Carlon Jeffery, she began acting as a child.
Her first screen appearance came in the 2006 comedy Phat Girlz, where she played a younger version of Mo’Nique’s character.
Jeffery went on to appear in several popular television shows, including iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up!, Scream Queens, Suburgatory, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and American Vandal.
She also had a recurring role as Keysha Black on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
However, it was Disney’s Zombies franchise that introduced Jeffery to a younger generation of viewers around the world.
She played Bree, a cheerful Seabrook High cheerleader and close friend of Addison, appearing in the first three Zombies films, released in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
She later reprised the role by voicing Bree in Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
Her death has since triggered an outpouring of tributes from her former co-stars.
Milo Manheim, who starred alongside Jeffery in the franchise, remembered her warmly.
“Carla. The sweetest person I have ever met. I love you,” Manheim wrote.
Chandler Kinney also paid tribute to Jeffery, describing her as a vibrant presence with a “heart of gold”.
Jeffery remained connected to the franchise in her final years and attended the 2025 premiere of Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires.
The actress had also spoken openly about living with epilepsy and encouraged fans to discuss disabilities without fear. She said the condition had not stopped her from singing, acting and enjoying life.
In a 2025 interview, Jeffery also reflected on becoming an inspiration to young Black girls through her role as Bree.
Her management company has asked the public to give her family and loved ones privacy as they mourn her death.
