Kenyan musician Edgar, popularly known as Stoopid Boy, has died.
The Arbantone star died on August 27, 2026, marking a sudden end to the life of one of the prominent voices in Kenya’s fast-growing street music scene.
His death was confirmed by comedian and content creator Oga Obinna, who took to social media to mourn the musician, though circumstances around his demise remain unclear.
Obinna shared a video in which he appeared devastated by Stoopid Boy’s death, as tributes began pouring in from fans and fellow entertainers.
The confirmation comes months after Obinna hosted Stoopid Boy on his live YouTube show in an effort to support him and help him recover from substance abuse.
The two discussed the musician’s struggles and his efforts to rebuild his life and career.
Stoopid Boy rose to nationwide prominence following the release of his breakout track “G Baga Jat”, widely referred to by fans as “G Bag Na Jug”.
Released in 2024, the song quickly captured public attention and established him as one of the recognisable names in the emerging Arbantone genre.
His distinctive delivery on the track earned him recognition across the local music industry and led to high-profile remixes featuring established acts including Mejja, Breeder LW and Gody Tennor.
Beyond his music, Stoopid Boy’s career was closely tied to his personal journey and public struggles.
Raised in Riverbank, an informal settlement in Nairobi associated with Gotta City, he often spoke openly about his background and street roots.
In early 2025, he publicly opened up about battling substance abuse and checked into a rehabilitation facility for three months with assistance from people in the entertainment industry.
After his release, he spoke about his faith and his determination to rebuild his life and musical career.
Despite his challenges, Stoopid Boy remained active in the music scene, releasing and featuring on several street-focused tracks including “Gangster Lover”, “Sangwangwa”, “Sherehe” and “Mareka”.
His death has since triggered an outpouring of grief across social media, with fans, musicians and entertainment personalities mourning the sudden loss of the young artist.
Stoopid Boy's demise also comes just months after he took to social media to mourn the death of his brother Ian.
"I'm going through something incredible. My elder brother just passed away, RIP bro," he wrote on Instagram in May.
