Embakasi East MP Babu Owino says he helped end a copyright fight between musicians Kapitani and Master VK over the song Kitemeo, which many people call 'Bag Ni Ya Nini' online.
In a statement, Babu said both Kapitani and Master VK asked him to mediate their dispute. He said he is happy the two musicians have resolved their differences.
Babu said, "Master VK agreed to restore the song on YouTube while they continue to work together on other projects," he added.
He also revealed that he is part of a new project with both artists where he will appear in the music video.
"We are already working on a major project together, and I’m excited to be part of the music video as well," he said.
He added that people should support an environment where artists can solve problems, collaborate, and grow.
Separately, Babu denied reports that he had banged a table during a meeting with the late Raila Odinga.
In an interview on Wednesday, he said he has never disrespected the former Prime Minister.
"We were in a meeting with Aladwa, Mwenje, Mawathe, Anthony Oluch, Orero and Jalang’o. I did not bang any table on Baba Raila Odinga. Baba was my leader, and I respect the elders," he said.
Babu also noted that Raila never publicly accused him of disrespect.
"Raila himself, if I had a problem with him, you never heard Baba say, even once, at a public rally that this old man had disrespected me," he said.
He warned that after Raila’s death, many people are sharing different and unverified stories.
"Now that Baba has passed away, everyone is saying, ‘Baba told me this,’ and everyone has their own version of events," Babu said.
