Popular Nairobi entertainment hotspot Paris Lounge and Grill has announced its closure after five years of operation, marking the end of a venue that became a fixture in the city’s nightlife scene.
The establishment, registered and operated by businessman Daniel Muriithi Kibe, known for his role in Nairobi’s “Sheree” culture, confirmed the shutdown in an emotional statement reflecting on its journey.
“Every story has a final chapter, and this is the end of an unforgettable era for Paris Lounge & Grill. Thank you for the love, the nights, the music, and the memories. The curtain falls, but the legacy lives on,” read part of the statement.
The announcement sparked mixed reactions among locals, with some questioning the reason behind the closure, while others speculated on possible renovations or a rebrand.
Paris Lounge had built a reputation as a vibrant party hub, hosting popular DJ sets featuring acts such as DJ Joe Mfalme and DJ Pierra Makena, alongside themed reggae and rhumba nights. It also became known for affordable drinks, nyama choma offerings and its role in supporting small businesses and creating employment opportunities.
The venue was also a meeting point for football content creators, including TikTok personality Kevin Masagara, who frequently used the space for shoots and fan interactions.
However, the club had faced regulatory challenges in recent years.
In May 2024, the Environment and Land Court ordered its closure and imposed a Sh5 million fine following persistent noise pollution complaints from residents.
The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) had also flagged the establishment in a broader crackdown on entertainment venues operating within residential areas.
The closure comes shortly after the shutdown of Kentwood Address off Kiambu Road in Runda, which ended six years of nightlife operations.
