King Kanja releases ‘Daima Mkenya’ celebrating Kenyan pride

Kenyan US-based recording artist King Kanja has officially released his latest single Daima Mkenya, a bold Afro-fusion track that seeks to celebrate Kenyan identity, culture, and pride on a global stage.

The song, accompanied by a visually compelling music video was directed by Steve Mugo.

Featuring the powerful vocals of Bwanangoma, Daima Mkenya fuses Afro-beats, Afro-pop and R&B, delivered in both Swahili and English, to create a sound that resonates across generations and borders.

Framed as more than just a musical release, the track by itself as a unifying anthem for Kenyans both at home and in the diaspora.

“Daima Mkenya is not just a song, it’s a movement. I want every Kenyan, wherever they are in the world, to feel seen, celebrated, and proud,” King Kanja said.

The release is a collaboration with Nairobi-based clothing brand Daima Mkenya Africa, whose ethos aligns closely with the song’s message.

Built on the slogan “Born Here. Worn Everywhere,” the brand champions Kenyan heritage through fashion, producing premium apparel made from 100% Kenyan cotton. Its collections incorporate the national colours and traditional beadwork.

Daima Mkenya Africa has also aligned itself with the broader Made in Kenya initiative, signalling its ambition to position local craftsmanship on the international stage.

King Kanja, born Kanja Muchoki, continues to build on an expansive career that spans continents.

He has previously appeared on BET’s 106 & Park, released the collaborative EP Foreign Exchange with Bobby V in 2023, and shared stages with international heavyweights including Beenie Man, Shaggy, Rick Ross, Akon, and Wyclef Jean.
