They say "your wedding is the happiest day of your life". However, they also say that "the first year of marriage is the hardest" and according to relationship therapist Aimee Hartstein, both seem to be true for many couples.

One couple who have been put to the test is Popular Gospel singer Guardian Angel and his wife of a year Esther Musila. The controversy around this "age-gap couple" was a trending topic in 2022, with what seemed like everyone had an opinion on their relationship, which would be enough to discourage anyone from getting to this milestone.

The couple tied the knot on a sunny day on January 4th, 2022, at a friend's garden with just a handful of guests, including gospel artist Kambua, a cousin to Esther. On a phone interview with Standard Entertainment, the couple reminisce on their wedding day, with Esther saying;

"A day like today we had put everything into place. All our service providers and everyone involved made sure all systems were set to go".

She continued to describe being calm and rested despite having the walkthrough for the bridal and groomsmen being done the night before in her living room without the team seeing the venue.

On asking about their favorite part of the wedding, Guardian summed it up into "everything, it was a once in a lifetime experience." After pushing some more he opened up and said he did not expect to ever get married so he soaked it all in. When asked if he had cold feet he replied "no, I just wanted to get married."

In her more seasoned role as his manager, Esther had more to add, saying, "my favorite part was walking down the long aisle and seeing the décor and then getting to see the look on Guardian's face."

The couple's wedding video also went viral after they posted it on YouTube, with Guardian Angel singing a rendition of the song Sweety by Zabron singers, which has 2 million views. Esther explained, "Sweety was a gift from my husband to me and to shoot the official video on that day forever remain memorable." On asking what the Zabron singers had to say about the rendition, she stated, "since this was a cover of their original song, we made sure to mention it, and we did eventually meet at the inauguration."

They talked about the strides they've made in a year, from investment to signing their first artist onto their label and releasing a new album titled Arise and Shine. They hope to shoot videos for that album as they are also an artist and manager duo. Esther confesses that it will be hard to go back to work as work from home comes to an end in her place of employment, saying;

 "We have had one year of honeymoon, good thing we enjoy each other's company, I dread to imagine how Guardian will cope when I'm back to work."

On plans for their anniversary, she says, "we are going out of town, away from our daily routine for some peace and quiet where we will watch our wedding video, look at our album and go through our texts from the first day we met which will be a surprise to my husband."

To end, we asked how they cope with challenges, with Guardian responding "we haven't had any challenges, just the ups and downs and disagreements which we solve in a short period of time."
