A 52-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in court for burning her neihgbours breast.
The suspect identified as Betty Nabwire Nakhulo is alleged to have scalded Sarah Atieno on the chest on August 18, thereby injuring her.
According to police, Nabwire stormed her neighbour’s house to find out why her child often referred to her as mapengo (toothless woman).
Police said Nabwire raised the matter with Atieno’s husband who was in the house. She categorically expressed her disdain at being called mapengo by a child.
The court heard that Nabwire demanded to know why Atieno and her husband had not taken time to punish their child or take any other appropriate action.
The argument is said to have escalated after Atieno arrived in the house and found Nabwire lecturing her dear husband.
The court heard that Atieno accused Nabwire of being a husband snatcher, and thus had no moral authority to lecture them on proper parenting, accusations the accused did not take kindly.
The two exchanged words before Nabwire allegedly lost her cool, stormed the cooking area and reached for a sufuria which had boiling water.
The court heard that Nabwire splashed the boiling water on Atieno, injuring her left breast before taking off.
Atieno was rushed to hospital moments later.
Nabwire however denied the charges and was released on Sh100,000 cash bail pending hearing on November 28.
