Bribery claims that hit the sugar report continued to rage yesterday, with a senior MP claiming that one of the individuals implicated in the saga had offered Sh14 million for some members of the joint committee.
The member alleged that the accused gave a down payment of Sh7 million on condition that he is not fingered in the report and that he would pay out the balance once the report is out and his demands were met.
The deal, however, went south when the report implicated the man who was understandably angry that the members had not kept their promise.
The Grapevine hears that the man decided to use other avenues to exonerate himself.
This even as details of how some of the MPs - who have been making noise about how their colleagues were compromised – also benefited from the proceeds.
