Britain's Got Talent viewers were stunned as Simon Cowell pushed his golden buzzer in the launch show of the ITV talent show.

16-year-old schoolgirl Sarah Ikumu, born to Kenyan parents, wowed him and his fellow judges Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon as she performed And I Am Telling You.

As she announced she was singing the epic song, Sarah, who lives with her mum and dad in Milton Keynes, said: "It shows off my vocal abilities the best."

An already-impressed Simon said: "It's one of the biggest songs in the world and you want to take that on."

As she began belting out the Jennifer Holliday hit, all four judges looked shocked, and she got a standing ovation midway.

Simon then immediately pressed his golden buzzer, and Sarah screamed, before her family ran onstage and her dad picked her up.

Explaining his decision to hit the buzzer, he said: "I've heard this song a lot and it started off well, and I thought 'This girl's great', and then it was like you'd been possessed.

"It was incredible. For someone your age, you not just nailed the song, you made it your song."

And Alesha agreed: "You are not allowed to have that much talent at your age.

"I didn't press it because I wanted Simon to press it and I want you to go far because you're a superstar."

Britain's Got Talent viewers were just as amazed with Sarah's incredible voice.

One said: "How is that voice coming from a 15year old!!!? she's amazing."

Another added: "How is that voice coming out of that girl's mouth?!"

A third exclaimed: "Sarah is giving me goosebumps! She deserved that golden buzzer!"
