Celebrated singer Yvonne Mumbi who also had a short stint at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation before moving to Nation FM is now a Doctor.

The singer behind hit singles such as Stop the War and Nchi Yetu graduated with a Phd in African Women Studies at the University of Nairobi last Friday.

“This was a very tough journey but I am glad that I went through it successfully. I endured three years of hard work but I can tell you that the last bit was the toughest,” Mumbi told Pulse.

Apparently, the singer had to hold back her singing career as well as her radio job to concentrate on her studies something she does not regret doing.

“At some point it became so hard for me to concentrate on both my radio job and studies and that is why I decided to give radio a break.

I now plan to go back on radio and also get my music career back on course,” she added.
Yvonne is the daughter of Nancy Wettstein, famous for starting and director Pivot Point-Kenya, the leading chain of beauty schools.
