The real world can be a scary place at times - with scary people in it.

Take John Jairo Velasquez Vasquez. The Colombian served 22 years in prison after plying his trade as former drug lord Pablo Escobar 's hitman.

Better known as 'Popeye', Vasquez started working with Escobar from the age of 18. Until his arrest, he racked up a shocking 250 kills - including his own girlfriend.

Now a free man, Popeye is leaving personal messages for Luis Suarez.

"Dear Luis..."Here's what he had to say: "Hello, I am Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, Popeye, the personal hitman for Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria.

"I would like to send my best wishes to the Uruguayan football team, and champions Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

"Please accept all my love, my respect. You are the strength of your people, the pride of your people.

"The kiss of life. From Medellin, Colombia, I congratulate you for being great warriors. Receive all my love and respect from these streets. Big hugs."
