A musician who recently received a car from Deputy President William Ruto now wants the DP to help modify his new ride to suit him.
Musician David Sakari received the Toyota Vitz after impressing the Deputy President a few weeks ago in Webuye.
Sakari who is a person living with dwarfism, says it is difficult for him to drive himself owing to his short stature. He wants the Deputy President to also assist him modify the car by fitting it with gadgets to enable him drive the car.
“It is very expensive for me to pay for a driver because I have other financial obligations to meet. I am humbly requesting the DP to assist me by modifying it so that I can drive myself. The car is currently meant for normal people but because of physique, I can’t even reach the pedals or see through the windscreen,” said Sakari
Sakari, a band member with the popular Webuye Jua Kali Band led by Kimilili Ward MCA David Barasa, said he was grateful even as he asked for the additional help.
“I will appreciate it if this vehicle will be automated so that when I am not performing, I can also use it as a taxi in Webuye town,” Sakari said.
Speaking in his home in Webuye, Sakari said he has employed five drivers on shifts, and had to teach his wife to drive in case of an emergency because he is unable to pay a permanent driver owing to his meagre income.
On November 18 last year, while at Matulo in Webuye West, the band performed at a fundraiser presided by the DP. Ruto was fund-raising for a women’s group, Sakari says he went direct to where the DP was and reminded him of his promise and the DP promised to deliver the gift.
The Toyota Vitz was presented to the musician by Webuye West Mp Dan Wanyama at Muliro Gardens as a gift from Ruto who honoured his promise to Sakari.
