A man confessed to stealing a chicken in court, claiming he committed the offence because he couldn’t afford to take his sick child to hospital.
Collins Mukabane was charged with stealing the chicken worth Sh800, which belonged to Mercy Chepkoech.
The court heard that on May 17, Mukabane lured the chicken to his house using grains and then sold it.
It is alleged that neighbours alerted Chepkoech who reported the matter to police.
In court, Mukabane claimed he had no cash to take his child to hospital and hence, stole the chicken.
