When desperate for husbands, kids, jobs, flashy lifestyles, or even remedy to stop their men from cheating, women go to weird extents, including enlisting the services of witchdoctors.
Knowing too well this desperation malady among women, a notorious witchdoctor in Watamu, Kilifi County has been sleeping with his female clients, as a strict part of his regiment when fixing their problems.
But upon discovering he had separately infected them with kisonono (gonorrhoea), three women ganged up and raided the traditional healer’s shrine. So robust was their expression of fury that it left locals thoroughly entertained, with the witchdoctor scandalised to the core.
Desperate for white boyfriends to sponsor their flashy lifestyles, three buddies; Pam, Suzy, and Mercy, toyed with the idea of seeking magical charms from the traditional healer, which they were to use to lure their white objects of desire.
The witchdoctor, popularly known for bragging on lampposts that he aids women land white tourists and rich business tycoons and can protect people from strange ‘problems’ like wasiwasi (worrying), ordered them to consult him separately.
Eager to move out of her one-roomed Swahili house to a more affluent address like Vipingo Ridge and also visit far flung destinations such as Paris for holidays and shopping, Pam threw caution to the wind and gave in, and so did the other women.
But owing to the embarrassing nature of the matter, they never discussed with each other the gory details of what transpired. After the regiment, which involved shooting ‘charms’ in her birth canal using his male member, the witchdoctor told her not to bathe, till after she sleeps with her white boyfriend (who he promised she was to meet in a matter of days).
Unfortunately, Pam, like her other pals, eagerly waited for a white boyfriend to entrap in vain. The only potential boyfriend who hit on them, nagging them for relationships were the usual suspects; randy members of ‘Team Mafisi’ in their hood, watchmen, charcoal vendors, matatu drivers and bodaboda riders.
Pam said that she was ready to go for another dose after a few days, but there was a severe burning sensation in her privates. After consulting a medical doctor, it was discovered that she contracted gonorrhoea.
So bad was the situation that when the three women met to compare notes, it emerged that they had contracted the disease, almost at the same time and the witchdoctor was suspect number one.
They teamed up and arrived at his shrine within his home, caused hell of a scene, demanding a refund of their money and expenses they had incurred in seeking medication for disease.
Efforts by the witchdoctor to explain himself fell on deaf ears. The women only left out of embarrassment after a huge crowd of tickled locals milled the home to witness the drama.
The witchdoctor now lives in fear, even as he struggles to establish legitimacy among locals after the disgraceful incident soiled his already dubious reputation and image.
