Law graduates sue Moi University

Five former law students have sued Moi University over their certificates.
The students took the university to the Nairobi high court to force its senate to release their certificates.

Mark Kotonya, Kelvin Njoroge, Samora Marshel, Job Achoiki and Elkana Mokua said they wanted the university to issue the document urgently so they do not miss to enroll for a diploma at the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
KSL admits law students for the professional course only after they have obtained their degree certificates.

On January 14, judge George Odunga aske the administration to send its representatives to court.
They were to explain why they are withholding the certificates of the former students at the court on January 16.

The five told the court they have been locked out of the advocates’ training programme for at least a year because of the failure by Moi University to issue them with the original transcripts and degree certificates.

They further told the court that as an alternative, it should force the Kenya School of Law to register them, pending the issuance of the original transcripts by Moi University.

Justice Ondunga certified the matter as urgent.
