When dressing up for weddings, think modesty, location and even call ahead to find out what the theme or dress code is.

Here are a few tips to look glam at such occasions:

Daytime outdoors

Girly prints always work but this does not mean you should wear casual sundresses all the time. Make an effort to don a more dressed-up look.

Obey the weather too. Wear comfortable shoes like wedges to avoid digging in the ground.

The gloomy weather does not give you an excuse to wear jeans. Instead, pair light hues of dresses that glow outdoors, accessorised with cropped leather jackets, boyfriend jackets or even light cashmere sweaters.

Evening indoors — fancy restaurant or country clubs

Make an extra effort by dressing up like you would go for a date or a black-tie function. Don low-heeled sandals but if you do high heels at the main function, carry comfortable dancing shoes.

Floor sweeping frocks with silver or gold accessories would look glamorous. Colours of the dresses really matter too; choose feminine colours like purple, red, royal blue and any other soft hues. Think embellished purses.
