Bungoma, Kenya: Riots rocked Bungoma Town Sunday morning as Kibabii University students went to the streets to protest the killing of their colleague in a road accident.
The said accident happened on Saturday 7pm, leaving the students aggrieved.
The locals, including bodaboda and other PSV operators, in retaliation started attacking the students who were marching and hurling stones in the streets on Bungoma Town on Sunday.
Police were called in to assist quell the riots that had paralysed activities in the town. Motorists using the Bungoma-Chwele road were forced to halt their journey or use alternative routes as the students, locals and police engaged in running battle.
Five students were admitted to Kibabii and Bungoma County referral hospitals with serious injuries following the protests.
