Police officers in Bungoma town gunned down two thugs who were in the process of hacking an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at a bank in the town.
Confirming the incident, Bungoma South OCPD Amos Cheboi announced that police are on high alert after crucial information filtered in to the effect that suspicious characters believed to be Al Shabaab hit men have been spotted in town.
On the Friday night shootout, Mr Cheboi said the thugs were planning to hack into a K-Rep Bank ATM when police officers who had been trailing them pounced on them.
