Despite Kenya recording its largest harvest in more than four decades last year, the country is now running out of maize. There is only enough maize in the strategic grain reserves to sustain Kenyans for one month. The parliamentary select committees on cost of living toured the National Cereals and Produce Board in Eldoret and confirmed there is limited maize in its silos. This situation is expected to result to a flour shortage and consequently an increase in the price of flour and maize.
