The Central Organisation Of Trade Unions Cotu, has suspended the nationwide strike it had earlier called, in favor of extended talks with government to strike a consensus over demands. Cotu had on Labor Day said it would call a countrywide strike to force government to implement a 60% pay hike demand.  Labor sector players have welcomed the move saying any further wage hikes would threaten economic growth.
