Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, on Tuesday 14 January during a press conference, responded after President Uhuru Kenyatta sacked him from the position.

The President made the announcement during his State address speech held in Mombasa today.

In his response, Kiunjuri said that he is still going to be around despite being sacked, and he would continue to serve the country.

“With my experience spanning over 25 years, I have a lot to offer. I would continue to serve this country, faithfully in other capacities. Make no mistake; I am not going anywhere. I will be with you around, “said Kuinjuri during his speech at Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

Kiunjuri also thanked the President for the position, his colleagues for supporting him and his family as well, adding that he is grateful for being healthy.

“The President’s decision has taken me by no surprise; I thank God, I feel relieved. I have endured lots of humiliation; only God and my family know this. I have given my best in my assignment; I leave with my head high.”

“I believe that life, good health, and freedom, most important. I thank God that I held firm, and I am healthy,” said Kiunjuri.

He wished the current Agriculture CS Peter Munya all the best as he resumes the job.

“To my brother Hon Munya I wish you the very best, as you heard from the president’s message this morning, and I have myself say this, agriculture is the surest path toward the economic wellbeing of our people,” he added. Do you think President Uhuru was right to fire CS Kiunjuri?
