A video of a woman crawling a few metres behind President Uhuru Kenyatta during a live TV interview has gone viral.
President Uhuru was answering journalists’ questions at State House in Mombasa on Friday when the incident happened.
State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena has come out to explain the howler, saying the woman was handling an urgent task but was caught off-guard by cameras.
Speaking to EDAILY on Saturday, Ms Dena indicated the woman was a member of her team but declined to reveal her identity.

“By the time the cameras had begun rolling, she was on the right side of the President. Her positioning was okay until something came up during the interview. I needed her to handle some urgent task. I am blaming poor timing on the gaffe.
“Our arrangement was when the cameras were focused on the journalists, she would crawl to the left. Unfortunately, when she was doing that, the cameras resumed focus on the Head of State. Though occasional, these things do happen during such fast-paced and multi-camera productions,” Dena explained.
In the round table conversation with journalists, President Uhuru addressed issues touching on corruption in Government, Kenya’s debt burden, education curriculum debacle and the 2022 succession politics.
