Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday 23 April dismissed the memo doing rounds on social media that was supposedly from the commission stating the resignation Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
“We wish to state that the memo circulating on social media that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has resigned is FAKE,” said IEBC through their official Twitter handle.
IEBC Manager for Communications and Corporate Affairs, Tabitha Mutemi also confirmed the same saying that the memo bearing the commission’s logo was not genuine.
On 16 April, the IEBC chairman had said that he will not resign despite the resignation of Vice Chair Connie Maina, Commissioners Paul Kurgat and Margret Wanjala.
