Ulinzi Stars showed an impressive form as they faced Al Hilal Benghazi. The soldiers lost 1-0 away, but, they had a chance to re-write the script as they welcomed the Libyan side in the second leg of Confederations of African Football (CAF).

The 18th minute stunning strike by Samuel Onyango, thanks to John Makwatta’s assist, made all the difference at Kasarani Stadium.

The visitors showed some might in the second half but their charges dealt a blow from the Soldiers’ defense which was rock-solid. Benjamin Nyangweso squad held tightly to that slim lead to the end.

After 90 minutes, Ulinzi emerged as winners, an aggregate of a one-all draw. This meant the next round qualifier will be determined by penalty shoot-out.

Baron Oketch, John Makwatta, Oscar Wamalwa, Samuel Onyango and Omar Mbogi all scored from the spot. Enosh Ochieng missed his penalty.

The Libyan side crashed out of the competition after missing two of their penalties.

Ulinzi will face Egypt’s outfit-Smouha SC in the first round of the Confederations Cup.
