Siaya, Kenya: A fresh row has erupted at Nyenye Beach Management Unit (BMU) in West Yimbo, Siaya County, following an alleged ouster of the beach officials.
The planned ouster meeting that brought together the Fisheries office and beach management officials flopped after the residents and fishermen protested.
The more than 100 residents stormed the BMU office with placards, chanting the name of an official whom they claimed was being targeted by individuals who were defeated in the last election.
Fisheries officer Sospeter Okungu said they had received information from some residents that there was mismanagement of public funds at the beach.
"We were informed that this committee has been mismanaging public funds," said Mr Okungu.
