Nyumba Kumi Initiative chairman Joseph Kaguthi has blamed poor relationships between security apparatus and Nyanza region residents as a hindrance to community policing.
Speaking to security officers in Kisumu County, Kaguthi said there is lack of a clear system to share information between the security team and cluster communities put in place to relay security information.
"Communication has been a major challenge in the implementation of community policing programmes. That is why we would like citizens to be more vigilant," he said.
Kaguthi said his board would start trainings for all civil servants "soon" so that they have knowledge on how to handle citizens more efficiently.
