Nyamira Technical Boys’ High School, Kisumu, and Raliew Girls ruled as the Nyanza provincial schools first term A games entered the second day at Maseno.

Nyamira showed their intention of grabbing the title from hosts and lackstre Maseno by humbling Nyansiongo 91-15 in their first match. Nyamira, who are tipped to win the title, outplayed their opponents in all the departments as they netted points at will.

And Kisumu Girls sounded a warning to their opponents by humiliating highly rates Lambwe 54-19 in their opening match. They then went ahead to beat Suba 44-21 in another encounter. Maseno, whose display at this year’s games is a pale shadow of their selves, it seems, are not enjoying their top form. However, they beat Gekano 68-04 in their opening encounter.

Kisumu Boys beat struggling Maranda High 36-19 while Sawagongo eliminated Iterio 54-27 in the preliminary matches.

Mbita high and Riogoma Secondary schools were awarded their matches without dribbling a ball after their opponents delayed to arrive for the fixtures. Mbita were to play Samita while Riogoma were to battle it out with Nduru later yesterday.

In the girls’ category, defending champions Raliew thrashed Dudi 85-09 while Nyamira suffered a 18-19 defeat at the hands of Ng’iya Girls.

Ahero beat Olanda 44-09, Nyabururu ran over Iterio 11-06 while Lambwe were given a walkover after their opponents Nyabisawa failed to show up at the court.

In hockey, Kisumu Girls were held to a two-all draw by Ng’iya in a thrilling match. Marion Adhiambo and Mary Evayo sounded the boards for Kisumu while Judith Akinyi and Juliet Akelo replied for Ng’iya.

In other matches, hosts Maseno were beaten by a solitary goal by Oriwo secondary. Moses Otieno scored the shocker 10 minutes into the match to silence Maseno fans.

The games will end on Saturday.
