Botswana made history by beating Kenya by 30 runs in their second match-up in the ongoing Continent Cup T20 Africa tournament at the Nairobi Gymkhana, on Thursday evening.
The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the 20 overs.
The visitors also bagged the man-of-the-match award, with Vinoo Balakrishnan, who had 55 runs off 38 balls, bagging it.
Ameer Saiyed contributed 26/20 as Karabo Motlhanka added 26/28 to the side coached by former Kenya international Joseph Angara.
Kenya replied to the test with 115 runs, losing ten wickets in their 18.5 overs. Captain Rakep Patel was good for Kenya with 41 runs off 26 balls.
Promising youngster Sukhdeep Singh and immediate former captain Shem Ngoche added 20/24 and 15/17 in that order.
"This is an historic win against Kenya and I'm blessed to emerge the man-of-the match in this game which will be remembered by Botswana for a very long time," Balakrishnan told Standard Sports.
"Being named the top player of the game is quite an honour.," Balakrishnan added.
