A resilient Cleophas Makau playing off handicap 11 is the overall winner of the ICDCI golf 2018 played under fair weather conditions at the par 72 Machakos sports club over the weekend. Makau walked back to the clubhouse with a round total of a solid score of 40 stableford points to triumph over a field of seventy five golfers that battled it out for the top honors. The event was sponsored by Industrial and commercial development dorporation investment (ICDCI), a pioneer industrial development agency to highlight its partnership and signing of an Mou with Machakos county government that will see the setting up of an industrial park on a twenty acre piece of land donated by the county government. ICDCI is responsible for the creations and setting up of major companies in the country including; General Motors (GM), Almasi which operates the soft drinks giant Coca Cola, Uchumi supermarkets, Kenya wine agencies limited (Kwal), EverReady and the multi billion Two rivers mall along Kiambu road among others.  On the outward nine, Makau also the club's vice chairman, bagged eight pars and one bogey for a total of 23 stableford points. He collapsed on the inward nine where he managed a single birdie, four pars, three bogeys, one double bogey and scratched the last hole for a additional 17 points to afford the bragging rights. "It's a happy feeling for the consistency with my game in the past three months, I've dropped from handicap thirteen within the past two months. This win lowers it down to ten, I would love to play off a single handicap soon," said Makau during the award ceremony "Am humbled to be the overall winner in today's tournament, I have no particular reason as to why I won but would like to appreciate the team that oversaw the course preparation which made it easy for me to hole out." he added Member second prize went to a handicap 16, Peter Muting'a on a score of 37 (16+21) stableford points, Bernard Muithya playing off handicap 20, was Member third prize on a score of 37(19+18) stableford points. Handicap 4, James Ndunda won Member fourth prize on a score of 36 (19+17) stableford points, Dee Kivuva playing off handicap 11 was Member fifth prize winner with 36 (20+16) stableford points. Handicap 20, Boniface Mutie settled for Member sixth prize on a score of 35 (14+21) stableford points. Senior golfer Ruth Mumo playing off handicap 28, had a superb round with a round total of 34 (20+14) stableford points to don the Ladies gong with handicap 22, Susan Ndolo settling for Lady winner second prize on a score of 33 (19+14) stableford points. Thika sports clubs' J Nduati playing off handicap 18, wasin his element as he fired 40 (19+21) stableford points to claim the Guest winner prize. VetLab's scratch golfer Robinson Owiti won Guest winner second prize on a score of 37 (17+20) stableford points beating his club-mate D Wahome on countback to Guest winner third on a similar score of 37 (20+17) stableford points. ICDCI chairman Bernard Mung'ata playing off handicap 12, was the Staff prize winner on a score of 31 (15+16) stableford points. In the commercials, seven two's were recorded by;Paul Kyengo, Peter Muting'a, Timothy Ruhiu, D Wahome, J. Mogeni, Timothy Ruhiu, Robinson Owiti, Julius Kioko and Mutua Kitulu.
