Jurgen Klopp has been whipping his Liverpool players into shape at Melwood - and he also intends to make sure there is no fat on his squad in terms of numbers.
After using 39 players during Liverpool's last gruelling 63-match campaign, Klopp wants a leaner squad for the new season because the Reds do not have European football.
The Liverpool boss has released Kolo Toure and Jose Enrique, received £4million compensation from Watford from Jerome Sinclair's Bosman move and could ship out as many as nine more players.
The sales of the likes of Christian Benteke and Jordon Ibe could generate over £70million, raising the possibility that Liverpool could make a trading profit during the transfer window.
