Kabras Sugar came from behind to defeat archrivals KCB 14-10 as the sugar men ended the 2023-2024 Kenya Cup regular season unbeaten on Saturday in the match played at the Kakamega Showgrounds.

Victory saw Kabras who had already secured a home semifinal in the upcoming playoffs end the season with 54 points.

In the match which was delayed by heavy downpour from the neighboring Kakamega forest, former Kenya Simbas full back Darwin Mukidza gave the visitors a perfect start on foreign territory after beating the Kabras defense to score a try converted by Tony Odawa for a 7-0 lead.

Kenya Simbas and Kabras captain George Nyambua responded for Kabras with an unconverted try that cut the bankers lead to 7-5.

South African international Ntabeni Dukisa who failed to convert his captains’ touchdown atoned to his mistake moments later by converting a penalty that gave Kabras a narrow 8-7 half time lead.

In the final half, Dukisa added two more penalties for a 14-7 lead before Mukidza grabbed the bankers’ consolation with a late penalty as Kabras sealed a 14-10 win.

Both Kabras Sugar and KCB have booked home semifinals.
