For those of us who work out, Ramadhan doesn’t mean that you have to stop your training regime.

Whether you jog, go for CrossFit, take walks, skip or other alternative ways of working out, you should keep it up through the entire Ramadhan.

The time you choose to work out is key to what you can do and how long you can do it. Some of us find ourselves  energetic in the morning, while others hit the curve later in the afternoon.

Many of us wake up for (Daku/Suhur) and find ourselves with a bit of food and energy in the system up to around 10am. This simply means if you hit the road for a jog or walk between 6am and 8am when it is still cool, you can easily work out without feeling drained.

For those who aren’t really morning people; well, the 5.30 to 6.30 option is open for you. This works well especially for those working out at home. As soon as you are done with your work out; it will be time to break your fast and quench your thirst. Once you get into the groove; you will find it getting easier by the day.

Now, many might wonder… What type of workout would be most ideal? We understand all of us have different types of bodies. Some want to add weight, while others want to lose and others simply want to maintain their current gains.

Whatever your goals, it is still possible to achieve fitness. Now that we aren’t going to the mosque for Taraweh prayers, you also have the option of breaking your fast with something small and then hit the gym. This tends to be the most preferred option after the evening session as it allows you to drink more water and rehydrate while you work out.

If you find yourself struggling with your workout, remember you are not preparing for the Olympics. You can take it easy.

Now, a work out is not just about running around in circles. Your diet needs to correspond with what you want to achieve. Avoid the fried food when you can. Improve on your water intake.

Don’t push the vegetables bowl away. “Fasting doesn’t make you weak. You have to convince your body that you have things to accomplish. Ramadhan will come and go as you still enjoy your work outs.
