Faithful have celebrated the recognition of Archbishop Washington Ogonyo Ngede as a national hero.
Ngede, the chairman of Nyanza Council of Church Leaders, which brings together more than 200 different denominations' heads, was distinguished as a hero on Saturday.
He received a certificate of recognition from the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage.
On Sunday, faithful of his Power of Jesus Christ Around the World church in Kachok joined him in a thanksgiving mass.
