Boat carrying four people trapped by hyacinth

A boat carrying four people among them an eight-year- old is trapped by water hyacinth in the middle of Lake Victoria.

The victims who were on holiday had boarded the boat to have lunch in Tilapia Beach.

According to witnesses, the lake was clear but suddenly it begun to rain heavily and winds and waves pushed the hyacinth towards the boat surrounding it.

Area residents could only watch from a distant helplessly as the boat rocked in the waves as it continued to rain.

By the time of going to press, the disaster management team from Kisumu had not responded despite being contacted.
