Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has vowed to deploy police officers to counter anti-government protesters this week.

Speaking in Baringo County on Monday, July 24, Kindiki reiterated that the government will not relent in safeguarding people against looting, theft, and crime in the demonstrations.

"On Wednesday, we are ready for them we will deploy from 1:00am. We will make sure no criminal no hooligan, no looter gets his way. I dare those who want to break the law on Wednesday to try," Kindiki said.

CS Kindiki said that the demonstrations are political and have been causing mayhem in the country urging those involved to be peaceful.

"Let people do their politics peacefully in a civil manner but looting, theft, robbery, and crime will not be permitted. The protest for last week was not enough, this time round will be even more vicious and you should not dare," he warned.

Addressing Kiserian residents in Baringo Constituency, Kindiki promised to deal with the demonstrators just like he had dealt with bandits in the region.

The CS made the remarks following the opposition's stand to carry on the anti-government protests on Wednesday this week.

On security matters in Baringo, Kindiki warned residents to stay away from the areas that had earlier been gazetted in March to ease operations.

"Security agents in the Maliza Uhalifu Operation will remain on the ground for the long term and will do all it takes to prevent criminals from regaining access to the hideouts in Korkoron Hills, Arabal Hills, Tandare Valley, and other remote places that used to harbour bandits in the past. Any persons found within those spaces shall be treated as suspects of banditry and will be dealt with accordingly," he said.

He said that security officers will upscale patrols in the affected areas to ensure that criminals do not regroup.
