Daniel Musyoka, the slain IEBC Embakasi East Returning Officer, was strangled and his neck badly injured, the autopsy report reveals.

His autopsy was done at Oloitokitok Sub-County Hospital on Wednesday, two days after his body was discovered.

According to the autopsy report, his body had neither gunshot wounds nor scars.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission where he was working at the time of his abduction and subsequent murder, chairman Wafula Chebukati said Musyoka was killed for doing the right thing.

"He was a well-trained officer who performed his duty with utmost honesty, integrity and dedication. It is unfortunate that his stand to do the right thing cost his life," Chebukati eulogized the deceased IEBC staff.

In his statement, Chebukati has also called on the relevant authorities to hasten the investigation process and bring to book the people behind his murder.

The 53-year-old father of two went missing on Thursday, August 11, 2022, under unclear circumstances.

Four days later, his body was found at the Amboseli National Park in Kajiado South Sub-County.

Police told The Standard that Musyoka's body had visible physical injuries and was naked when it was discovered on Monday evening.
