16 year old boy hangs self after being rejected by girlfriend

A 16-year-old boy hanged himself after breaking up with this girlfriend, say witnesses.

The teenager was found hanging from the roof of a house in Mwiciringiri village in Naivasha town by classmates who had paid him a visit. According to a classmate, the teenager was depressed after the break up.

“The break up adversely affected the deceased and he locked himself in his room before taking his own life using a rope,” said the classmate.

The body of the form two student, who had been living with his grandfather, was taken to the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital Mortuary.

A senior police officer said investigations were ongoing. “No suicide note was left behind by the deceased; we have opened a file of inquiry as investigations go on,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, transport in Olkaria, Naivasha was disrupted for several hours after a speeding trailer rammed in a herd of cattle, killing five of them. The midday incident occurred near Olkaria IV geothermal power plant.
